Barrier papers for frozen products
Barrier papers are well suited for frozen-food packaging (e.g. ice cream, baked goods, fruit and vegetables, ready meals). Many barrier coatings become less permeable to water vapor at low temperatures. In addition, the air in frozen environments contains less water vapor.
Sustainable packaging for frozen products
The functional coatings of our thinbarrier® products provide excellent water vapor barriers, especially at low temperatures, which come close to the values of conventional plastic films.
The water absorption capacity of our papers has also been optimized for use in deep-freeze packaging. This effectively prevents freezer burn and condensation ingress when the cold chain is interrupted. The seal seam strength is consistently high over the entire temperature range of the application from -18°C to 38°C.
